Algiers Ferry Service

Canal Street Ferry crossing the Mississippi River. The Canal Street Ferry has been in continuous operation since 1827. There have been many attempts to eliminate the ferry and the Algiers Point Association has led the fight to protect the Algiers ferry service every time.

Click here to watch the Canal Street Ferry LIVE on www.Nola.com!

The ferry service to/from Canal Street (just blocks from the French Quarter and Central Business District) runs every day from 6 a.m. until midnight carrying pedestrians and vehicles. Vehicles pay a $1 round-trip fee and pedestrians can ride the ferry free of charge. Click here and look under "transportation services" for details.

Algiers Point Parks

Larkin Park: The Algiers Point Association was responsible for the removal of a dilapidated building from Larkin Park resulting in restoring the charm as well as function back to this little park.

Confetti fence at Confetti Park in Algiers Point.Confetti Park: Each year the city sets aside money for public art. Algiers Point Association members, along with members of Confetti Kids, were able to procure some of this money for our neighborhood. They wanted it to be functional art, and the result was "Confetti Fence" around Kiwanis Playspot, also referred to as Confetti Park. The park was featured in Southern Living and is truly a jewel in our neighborhood.

Delcazal Park: Located at the corner of Verret, Opelousas and Seguin Streets was the site of a cemetery and chapel. The remains of the Duverje and Olivier families and their slaves were removed in 1916 and the land was donated to the city as a playground.
